Module description
Since December, 2019 the world witnessed many cases of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The disease started in China where the first case was reported and then in March, 2020 WHO declared the disease pandemic after affecting many countries. The novel virus causing the disease has not been mentioned in the current standard treatment guidelines. For good management of suspect and confirmed cases of COVID -19, the clinicians at the health facilities at all levels need to understand the diagnosis criteria and principles of management COVID-19. This module will hence present the diagnostic criteria and principles of management of the disease.
Pre-requisite
The module is intended for all health care providers especially clinicians and nurses working in the health care facilities.
Objectives of the module
By the end of this training session, learners should be able to:
- To be able to diagnose a COVID-19 case
- Understand principles of clinical management for a COVID-19 suspect
Management of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
The disease is caused by SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2)

Management of COVID-19 involves supportive management of the common complications whether mild or severe.
COVID-19 cases will be attended at the selected hospitals or other designated centers.
